Nice catch!!

wow.

what kind of fish do you want to catch? table food? sport fish? aquarium fish? second, pick an area you want to know about, then we can help you better.

Love the gulf. I always take my crab trap and catch a ton of blue crab while fishing for whatever. Found out when I went with my wife's family that I was the only one that ate crab. The neighbors were happy though. I gave them a pot of about 25 and they were blown away that I wouldn't accept their money. A few hours later I had about the same number back n the trap along with a half eaten flounder. The half that was stuck in the cage was picked to the bone

Sorry for going off topic, but...

You guys are talkin' about my old stompin' grounds here. Central Florida has some great largemouth Bass lakes. A lot of them have hydrilla which is an aquatic plant that was released by someone with an aquarium, back in the 1960's . The hydrilla snags hooks and takes over everything (bedding areas for bass). It's Florida's version of aquatic Kudzu! I always found either black or purple worms good when casting, but had the best luck trolling with spinner bait, or horse shiners. The bigger the shiner, the bigger the bass.

If you're looking for off-shore fishing around Orlando, I can recommend the Orlando Princess, which I have been out on. What you catch depends on season of course. We got lots of sea bass, a few snapper, and one person caught a 40 pound Cobia (mmm, mmm goood!). You can Google 'Port Canaveral Charter fishing' for a wider selection. Port Canaveral is about an hour from Orlando, but allow more time, for navigating and finding the party boat, parking, etc. Farther south is Ft. Pierce, Stewart, Ft. Lauderdale and Miami. Miami is about 200 miles/3-4 hours south from Orlando. They all have charter/party boat fishing. Just Google the town with 'charter fishing' and you will pull them all up. Good luck!

As for those Peacocks Rick, they are farther south, and yes plentiful and feisty!

Really! They're not supposed to survive that far north (can't handle the cold), but as mother nature continues to show us, she finds a way. Yep, I'm familiar with the Bee-Line too. I'm guessing the Gulf Stream helps keep the water temp's up. I know the air is warmer. I grew up in Winter Haven. We would have freezes and loose citrus, but along the Indian River it would stay several degrees warmer. How big are those Peacocks over there? I've never caught one myself, but have heard they fight like demons. I watched a show about a trip to Mexico, and those were some BAD Bass!

5lb is the best you will get. ya gotta look in those road side ditches ya see. you will find them. heck i can take ya to landlocked tarpon in brevard county too. lol its been yrs since ive hooked up with one. oh yeah they fight like crazy. kinda like a juvy poon would. i mainly do jekyll island these days for my salt. big reds, flounder, trout, sheepies, drum, SHARKS, whiting, spanish mac's, just about any table fish ya want is there.
i fish from a kayak. nothing like it. NOTHING.

I haven't checked this thread since my last post. But, here's where I caught the pufferfish. I fish a lot and aquarium fish don't come along very often.
