I just noticed the past 2 threads about the ARC discount not being honored at Reef Shac and wanted to comment, but the threads are closed now, so I thought I'd just start a new one to share my experience. It was the same for me as it was for SStewart and Nicoli627.

I've been to Reef Shac 3 times and bought things on the 2nd (11/13/14) and 3rd visit (1/16/15). I thought his prices were decent overall, but not like wholesale like he said. I was originally miffed about him not honoring the discount like it states on his sponsor page, but I let it slide because I like supporting small businesses and especially hate to see LFS's go under (I didn't buy much though).

He said he told ARC that he can't offer a discount cause his prices are too low as it is, and I assumed that some miscommunication had taken place and that it was just a mistake that it was posted on the site that would be fixed at some point. I guess it's being fixed now?

I wouldn't have any issue with it if the discount just wasn't listed on his sponsor page. Overall, I think it's a nice little shop and I'd like to buy from there again (it's just not at the top of my list).

Is crazy how people complain about the discount when we getting the best prices around , I know shac since he opened the store and he is a great guy he has give me the best prices and i have never ask for a member discount, come on guys you expect to get the lowest price and then get a 10 % discount on top of that, that's not right guys I seen many of you purchasing coral and other stores and paid sometimes even triple of what you paid at reef shac so let's be honest and stop all this talking about reef shac

Just to put this to bed, once and for all.....it was a misunderstanding between the sponsor and ARC. It has been resolved going forward .

Resolved in what way? That's how the other thread ended, but it was not made clear.

All the complaint filers have been shipped to a Chinese sweat shop. Who wants to buy some cheap Nike's?

I figured it was some sort of misunderstanding. I apologize for bringing it up, as I didn't intend to create any more drama.
I am a relative noob to saltwater (started saltwater Oct 2014, freshwater since a little kid)... so maybe I don't know the best prices in Atlanta when I see them.

As I have mentioned before, we are not allowed to give specifics just as we wouldn't if we took action against a member. But, having said that, I have personally spoken to the sponsor and have clarified what is required of an ARC sponsor. All sponsors are required to adhere to the same requirements. So yes, it has been addressed and I hope you will understand that we can not provide further detail. Hope you understand.

No need to explain, Rich. Anybody with a comprehension level above a potato should be able to connect the dots.

For the folks requiring a hand to hold through this journey, all sponsors are required to offer a 10% discount.

Thats why these need to be deleted.

This will keep going and going and going. Making the sponsor look bad, arc look bad and on and on...

Not sure if leaving these open is some kind of transparency position but clearly there's not going to be one with details, never is, under any administration. So the value of keeping these viewable is just redonkulous.

I actually agree. I think I just felt like venting at the moment when I started the thread, but I realize it was in poor taste. Again, my apologies...

What I want to know is why no one has told the sponsor that shack has a "k" at the end?

Shaq should just raise his prices 10%, then give everyone 10% off. Problem solved.

That would</em> work but it does defeat the spirit in which it is intended. :D

You guys are making a huge deal out of this, even though it's not lmao.
