Not glued for life....

Over the past month I've picked up several frags and nice pieces from the various sponsor LFS and members. Its time to do some arranging within the tank.

My question is this....

There has been tons of, what kind of glue do you use threads, BUT....what if you can't commit to gluing until death do you part (or part out as the case generally is). What if you change your mind once said frag/coral is attached? Then what? Is there a glue that will hold frags and corals in place without being a lifelong commitment?

Thoughts.....suggestions to my adhesion commitment issues?

Suggestion: glue the frag to a reef plug that has a stem, not just a disk.
I use loctight GEL.
Get some 2 part reefsafe epoxy. Kneed some of it together and stuff it into a hole in your LR. Take the frag plug and press it into the epoxy so that you make a "stem shaped" indention.
Let it set and you'll have a hole in your LR the exact size u need hold your frags

Have done this in the past....works well, the hole filling method. But....what about glueing to places that don't have pre-made holes? I'm not into the power tools solutions of drilling. I have some frags that are glued to disks and some that are on rubble. Is there anything that will work well on those pieces or in the situation of not having holes in the rocks?

you dont have to drill the rock for the tank, just take some epoxy, put it on the rock and pock a spare plug into it, then pull the plug out, once it sets, put your frag into the hold you made.

ok....now....gotta find some epoxy! Is there anything at HD that I can use or do I need to head to the LFS? The reason I'm asking......I work all day today and then have class tonight. When I get off of work tomorrow I really need to be ready to pull the trigger and not be running all over creation. I've got a HD right down the hill from work. There are NO LFS close to me (one downfall of living in East Bumble)

This is reefsafe and can be found where all the glues are...

FWIW, I've glued plugs onto the LR and a couple months later wanted to move them. I used the 2 part putty stick to do it. I use a plastic scraper under the edge of the disk and twist. The frag plug pops right off and coralline grows over the old putty in a month or so and you can't tell it was even there.

Once things start to grow out and I need to move them, or if the piece isn't happy with its new "home" I need to be able to move it around without a complete tear down/melt down.

I'll swing by the HD tomorrow on my way home....MUCH closer than the nearest LFS (100 yrds compared to 20 miles in the wrong direction!)

I would.....but keeping an appointment and then following up with several visits over a period of time.....sounds like such a.....well COMMITMENT! :blush:
