I have been using red sea salt and been happy with it. The other day I saw some oceanic salt in pre mixed 5 gallon pouches and thought how convient that would be because my WC are 5 gallons at a time.

Anyway, when I use my red sea. I add water , salt then use a K1 powerhead to mix. within 20 minutes water is clear (mixing in a salinity bucket). Well with the Oceanic salt I mixed over night and the water looks milky. Salinity looks to be correct but just cloudy.

normally with red sea i can see the bottom of the bucket, but not with the oceanic.

Anyone use oceanic and have this issue?

I know this is all rookie stuff but its just part of my trial/error and discovering what I like.

I think there was a thread a while back about oceanic salt mix containing ammonia. I only use seachem reef salt or aquavitro salinity. There are others of good quality as well, like brightwell and d-d.
