Odd observation - skimmer performance worse after adding outside air line...???

builders construct houses tight for energy eff, yet ther is no law to take indoor air quality in consideration .

A few corrections and comments.....

1. There is no law that says builders have to build a home in any specific manner. There are codes.

2. No municipality is "required" to adopt any code however many do.

3. If a municipality requires a certificate of occupancy be issued prior to the building being occupied, certain inspections must be made to ensure that required codes have been satisfied.

4. Almost all builders will build to Minimum Code Standards because exceeding those standards results in higher costs. With higher costs, the end user will go elsewhere.

5. Many codes are written to satisfy certain "trendy issues". Energy consumption is one such issue. As a result, some codes require certain practices without full consideration of trickle down effects. Pretty standard results of regulation authorities in my humble opinion.

My point here is, while the OP has a specific issue he is trying to correct, it may not be reasonable (in this thread) to lay blame at the feet of an industry that is trying to adhere to regulations they did not conceive or enact.

Just my $1.50. (Used to be $.02 but for inflation and all that).

Sure friend,
We all have some knowlege and POV,
Some are givers , doers, listeners,
You must be a helper?
So how are we helping the OP?
I did all I can to bring everyone on this epic journey of discovery on IAQ...Indoor Air Quality

Peace out and good luck

Well it seems my skimmer performance has improved modestly but in my mind it still seems like it is under performing compared to before (maybe it's not?).

My ph before the change was never higher than 7.8 and now after the change in sitting at a solid 8.0-8.2! Talk about high co2 levels in my house!

I may give this setup a few more days to run then go back to an indoor skimmer air line just to settle whether skimmer performance really did go down after the outside air intake change....

I have a theory on the performance change that maybe someone with more knowledge could chime in on...

Perhaps the skimmer with the LARGER airline is now feeding MORE air into the skimmer so their is in effect more air bubbles within the skimmer body and less water (only so much space within the skimmer body for either air or water). - less water going through the skimmer per day now means less waste removed???
