Has any one had any experience with a ODYS SEA lamp fixture?Im going to buy a 48" fixture with 216 total watts for my 60.Is this light worth trying? Its a third of the price of a Nova or a Corilife. Is it worth the money.TY Chris ps the light is a total of 260 watts 3 switchs and cords, plus 8 led lunars.

Well, 260 watts sounds like it's 4 65w PC bulbs, not T5's.

You get what you pay for in this hobby. There are areas you can cut corners, but lighting generally isn't one of them.

I have had a very good experience with the t5 lighting (New Wave) that Jenn of Imagine Ocean recommened. The company also stands behind their product. My softies and SPS are doing very well, growing etc. I added some LEDs just for shimmer. but only turn them on when I am viewing the tank - so they really don't play a role in my lighting.

Odyssea lighting is well known as the cheapest line available... and the quality is on par with that. I think the old "my light caught fire" days are past them, but they are still pretty cheesy lights.

Remember, buy poor quality=buy twice. There are too many good fixtures on the market to waste your money on bad stuff.

On my temp 38 gallon I have a 4x39w 36" it does decent. And it's all that I wanted. I didn't want to spend real money on that setup.

If you plan on this being a long term high end setup save your money and buy right the first time

Did you mean Wave-Point?.....if so that's what I have along with a 250w pendant....the wave-point is a great fixture with the exception you can't control the actinics and daylight separately....I added a LED strip also for night-lighting.....and the pendant setup didn't cost all that much.....you can usually get a good deal on here anyways....so I wouldn't waste you money or time or hassle purchasing an odyssea fixture....you'll just have to replace the ballast and everything and end up spending the same as if you purchased a better light and have less of a P.I.T.A.

I had a PC fixture from them...did well, till it caught fire, lol. Look around on here for people selling and or check with our local fish stores, lots of them can get great prices, esp if you're a member....gotta love the club discounts :)

They have supposedly upgraded ballasts but dunno. I believe that lights an a skimmer are the 2 things to spend money on now rather than later. (nuttin wrong with finding a gem in the sale forums either)

Thanks for all the input!I knew I could count on ARC.I was thinking its to good to be true and sure enough it is.I guess I will have to wait and buy the good one.So my next question is Nova or Aquatic Life? They both are high end fixtures its just that they run about 400$ bucks,I will wait and buy a good one!TY Chris

Tony did mean WavePoint...

AquaticLife all the way, Sprinklerman. Both companies provide excellent customer service (Current & AquaticLife), but these days my preference is for AquaticLife.

If you're looking to buy, PM me for a price, I'm pretty competitive.

Jenn
