On 9/8/02 I purchased 2 yellow clown gobies for my tank for The Aviarium. Having mostly a SPS tank they did bother some of the SPS by actually breeding in a large acro table.

Last year I gave them to my dad as he was setting up a nano tank and I knew they would be perfect for his tank.

Mom informed me tonight that one of them died last week. Both of my parents didn't want to tell me that one died as they where afraid I would be upset with them. But after 8 years I guess it was of old age.

I find it amazing that we where able to keep them for so long in captivity.

Wow! I'm sorry for the loss, but that's impressive longevity, IMO!

Sorry for your loss! It's never fun to lose a fish, especially when you've had one for that long.

Question: Did your dad have a lot of SPS in his nano? I know in the wild they tend to live among SPS corals and I'm guessing they have some sort of dependency on the coral. Don't know if it's a correct assumption or not, but your dad's tank may support this hypothesis.

No he does not. I've not heard this theory but it is interesting. I'm guessing old age.

I would agree that it was pretty old for a goby, I was just curious.
