Folks:

Where do you keep yours? I have seen recommended ranges from 1200s to 1500. Currently, I am at 1380. Thanks for your thoughts.

1300-1400 is what I shoot for. You need it to be 3x the calcium level to have the calcium be available for corals to use.

Thanks au. I am assuming it is all right to be a little above 3xs calcium.

Yup, some people even keep theirs at 1500 or more. Some evidence suggests that high levels (1800-2000) can help eradicate certain nuisance algaes. Of course, keeping Mg this high can be pretty expensive after a while.

I try to keep mine around 1300-1400, but lately I have been boosting it up intothe 2000-2400 range to help fight off some of this hair algae. I just heard this secret of getting rid of nuisance algae... Thanks Simon.

I TRY and hold mine between 1500-1600. I didn't think I'd ever get it to go over 1100. I started mega-dosing and finally got it up and now I'm seeing a lot better coral growth because the low mag was holding my CA low as well.
