Orange linkia either dying or reproducing

Have any of you ever had an orange linkia reproduce?? I've got one in my 135 that I've had for 7 months and noticed it was pretty much in half yesterday. I figured either it's dying, been bit off by another animal, or is reproducing (which I doubt)-but just wondering what you guys think.

We have a blue linckia that we thought was dying a couple months ago.

It basically looked like it was coming apart in the middle -- kind of like it was a stuffed toy and the seams were splitting, exposing sawdust inside. It stayed that way for 2-3 weeks and now it's completely whole again. No clue what it was, but ours recovered.
