I always find it interesting what corals people mention after I sell/trade them corals, and it always surprises me. They are often impressed by something I wasn't, and often overlook what I thought was gold. Other times, I buy something only to be disappointed by its growth pattern, growth, color, or general appearance. So share something what you think!

Underated:

Lunar Eclipse Zoas (amazing under LEDS)
Birds Nest SPS (great introduction to SPS, can be dazzling, grow fast)
Gorgonians (look amazing in the background, add a nice contrast)
Bonsai acro SPS (grow slow, but are striking when they reach colony size)
Tyree Red Watermelon Chalice ( SOOO old school, but sooo sweet)
Monti Cap (under right placement, can still be a centerpiece of tank)

Overated:

Captain America Palys (lame coloration, grow slow, no pop under actinic)
Leathers (boring, mostly lack color, uninteresting)
Hollywood Stunner chalice(grows like Barry Bonds, mean as Mantis Shrimp)
JF Crazy Fox Chalice (similar to My Miami only not as cool)
Scolymias (cant frag em, all a circle, colors are all pretty similar, cost $$$)

The only thing I'll disagree on is that yes, you can frag scolymia. :)

Lunar Eclipse under LED actinics (yes, I agree, underrated).

Hornets (all of them) not overrated IMO. Still a favorite in my tank.

TOTALLY agree... minus the blue cloves..... I have seen them take over everything....

The only thing I look for when I buy coral is color. But, I am biased. I love sps :)

died...too hot?

no big...I found some on a hidden part of my rock that I had cut off a frag of Joe's ....so, I already had some, didn'y know it! Thanks though..

Overated:
1. Every zoa over $10.00 a polyp. Yet I find myself paying for all of them!
2. Chalices! Don't get me wrong I like them and want them, IMO just extremely overpriced.

Underrated:
1. I'll agree Lunar Eclipse
2. Bam Bams
3. Orange Oxides
4. Radioactive dragoneyes, great color without LED or Actinic

My scoly frag from the Feb. frag meeting is doing great. Overrated is price for the what is in the now corals. Underrated is a little different. Alot of corals under the wrong light would fit into this category.

I agree chalice coral is way overpriced thus making them over rated. I still would not mind one one day. I think some encrusting monti are under rated also some softies like pipe organs.
