Overflow Box

I just picked up a 50g oceanic tank today that is not reef ready. I am going to drill the back glass (bottom is tempered) and need a overflow box. I would make one, but I don't want to buy a bottle of weldon just for this and I'm not sure if silicone will hold one together.

Does anybody have any experience with the glass-holes.com overflow boxes? I like how they are very compact and don't take up much room. Or do you know of somewhere that sells overflow boxes? Thanks!

I own the single tube Eshopps model and I think it is ok. I have considered replacing it but it has worked without a problem for 3 years. I wish it had a cover though. I also don't like the fact that it has a syphon tube. I am always concerned that the syphon will break and water with continue to be pumped from my sump into the tank. To address this concern, I installed a float switch in the DT that shuts off the sump pump when the water level reaches a certain height. Good luck with your decision.

you could build your own.. most full height overflows are heated/bent not pieced together..

if you drill your tank low, you'll still be able to do a full height design..

if you drill it high, you can bend a coast to coast overflow to fit the entire width across the back.. (and can just bend an overflow to fit across the back/top)
