Overflow dilema

How do you find out if it's tempered or not? I heard something about using a Laptop screen to tell.

I will have to look. I do know it is an Oceanic brand. Not sure I recall there being a date sticker.

Got ya. Well I have both so I will see what is what tomorrow.
Today I plan to go spit lead out of some pistols.

Okay...so the holes are 1.75" in diameter. When I looked at my Laptop or at my Cell Phone while looking through my Polarized Sun Glasses, I could not see any difference...no black lines, or rainbows.

So, drill more holes or no?

were you wearing them or holding them in front of you? go to a know tempered glass and see the wavy heat lines. heck go to walmart and LQQK at their 10g tanks.

Both...wearing and not. When I am in my car, the black lines and rainbows are all over. So those are clearly tempered and made to shatter. I looked at the bottom, back, and sides of the tank and there was no change. Only difference is my tank is not out in the sun.

Call aquaeon they did have the bill of materials for most of the oceanic tanks.
Measure the thickness of the bottom glass.

Okay, anyone have a 1" bulkhead they can measure the outside diameter? I will need to find out whether or not I have room to fit a .75" bulkhead with the existing Overflows. If not, where do you buy them at?

Bottom glass is .5" as with the rest of the tank.

Never mind...finally found some at Aqueon site. Anyone else know of another place to buy them? Funny...being in the Plastic Industry...how much some of these cheap Plastic items cost the end user. Knowing they are sold for pennies in bulk every 10-60secs as multiple cavity molds eject them out. The operating costs are all hidden in there, however, its the retailer or distributor making all the profit. The actual maker is strapped to make it so cheap most of them barely break even. Dog eat dog world out there folks...with the Asian Market making stuff with way less overhead costs. Or so it seems! (If you know what I mean);)
