Overflow drain/return size?

ok...for the herbie...just got my 1" and 3/4" bulkheads from brs. Due to the previously drilled holes being parallel/dead center of the overflow the two 1" bulkheads cannot fit in there. Here are my options 1. grind the bulkheads down a bit to make them fit (risky) or 2...either use the 1" line for drain and a 3/4" line for emergency drain or vice versa..3...perhaps they make a smaller profile bulkhead somewhere? Any thoughts?

How much is needed to grind to make fit?

I would say about an 1/8" on each one would make up the 1/4" I need...

I don't think 1/8" will deter from the bulkheads functionality. If it were me, I would do it
