Painting mesh top black to reduce glare?

My clear mesh top on my tank is reflective as heck and bugs me. Has anyone painted the mesh flat black with good results? I was thinking a black coating would greatly reduce the glare I am seeing.

Not a good idea: the paint will flake off over time

better off paying a little more to get the black mesh and save yourself the hassle later

Any mesh you put over a tank will reduce the amount of light that gets down to the coral. Black will reduce more than clear. Also with black make sure its UV stabile or it'll get brittle pretty quick under our lighting.

I don't mind painting pvc for use in a QT tank but I wouldn't paint anything directly over or in a display.
