Painting New Skimmer

I have the new octupus skimmer HOB coming tuesday...its RED...I want to paint it black....Ideas?? What paint (must be a spray)

I read that before I think...Are there special types? Lowes or HD carry it? I just dont see me liking the red in the tank lol

Like clear red or just straight red? If it was clear red, I think that would be cool looking.. If its plain old red that might be an eyesore..

Don't know about Home Depot, but my Lowes does not carry Krylon Fusion. I get it an Wal-Mart.

It is NOT clear red Part of me says just put up with it because I wont have a 30 cube forever....geeeesh if my history holds true Id say 6 months tops lol....The skimmer is rated at 100 gallons so if I go to a 60 or 70 I could even use this on a HOB sump...it should be a beast with the BB pump and all...

We will see tuesday...I could always get RED poster board for my background lol

Nice skimmer, I dont think I have seen the h.o.b skimmers with a bubble plat yet. I don't think I would purchase it unless it was going to be in a stand though. That thing is so bright it makes me wanna slap my mama. j/k I dont condone the slapping of any mamas.....unless the have a really bright red skimmer........

Well...depending on how obnoxious it looks Ill decide what to do...I already have my eyes on a 60 some gallon oceanic, rimless at Creation Aquatics...The wife hasnt even said no yet....

oh.. didn't realize that you were painting the "contact with water" areas...


I would think that there could be an issue with the paint over time.. (even bottom paint on boats flakes off)..


keep us informed... (I agree btw, they should have made it out of black and clear acrylic)

We will see...all I know is, and I hate to agree with wife, it was hideous, a big RED box sitting in the tank...what were they thinking!! lol

It looks great in there and this skimmer is a beast for sure!!
