Paly removal

I have palys that are taking over my tank and need to remove them. I don't think I can remove the rock.
What are the best methods for their removal? (I know that I will have to wear gloves, mask, and eye protection.)

What can I do to minimize the exposure of my the critters in the tank?

Use a screwdriver or a box knife and scrape them off
