What would be a good color combo of 3 strips. I am upgrading a 29 biocube

I'd recommend hitting up someplace like http://www.stevesleds.com/">http://www.stevesleds.com/</a> or [IMG]http://www.ledgroupbuy.com/">http://www.ledgroupbuy.com/</a> for a full-spectrum retrofit kit if you;re looking to improve lighting whith keeping the stock look. Ecoxotic keeps revising the number of strips required to light a tank upwards and I was never really satisfied with the results over my 9. Good support, though from them... so no complaints on that front.

But if you've already got an investment in the accessories (power supplies/splitters/one-touch controler or the like) a mix of one or two 12K/445's on one dimmer, a couple 445s and maybe one 445nm/Magenta on another dimmer would work. But by that point you're in the territory of a lot of bigger/better fixtures, cost-wise.

Definitely want to keep the hood. And it's the same price for DIY as the pan pro 2. I just thought later down the road if I want to change spectrum I could just unplug 1 module and slide in the new one or if 1 fails the same option. I'm trying to stay as simple as possible. Thanks for the suggestion.
I looked at all the retrofits and don't care for the setup so I am looking for something premade that will fit in place of the pc

Fair 'nough. Hence the recommendation in the second part of the response. Just a bit of advice... you WILL want dimming on whatever channel you're running your whites on... those suckers are BRIGHT even at the same "wattage" and will overpower the actinics/magenta easily.

They make a dimmer switch for these lights.
I might have more money in the overall set up than going topless with a fixture but I can't stand the look of a biocube without the top.

So 2 white/blue , 2 blue/magenta ?
