Just out of curiosity, where is the club PAR meter? I am wanting to see what I am getting out of my lights at certain point in my tank. Thanks.

So... is there actually a club PAR meter? After recent purchases of a ReefKeeper controller and new LumenBrights a PAR meter is not in my budget. But I would REALLY like to know the readings in my tank...

Yeah.....I asked about it about a month ago.....from what I have been told the list is rather long at this point to use it.....was also told that Tim at Keen has a couple that are available for rent.....

I am also looking for one, and someone to help. I just live so far away.

give it up guys, just buy one if you want to use one. Unless you have a friend who has one. Or a LFS that can test, but the club meter...joke. This is a great club and the forums are maintained very well but the par meter situation is lacking. I would pay to rent it and that's just not going to happen, i've tried with many Pm's.

So expensive though. I would only use it one every couple years! Might have to beg someone on RC...

I believed the joke. I think that would be a great idea. Seems like a waste of money to buy for just yourself. Just make the people who borrow it sign a contract to replace it if not returned...or rent as suggested. BTW, my father and I would like to test our tanks (he just installed some LED strips). I will contact Tim.

Wonder how much these guys charge.

In the past three years I have supposedly been on the list 2 times. I am still waiting to even know where on the list I am. Maybe Amberjack can get the list straightened out. Good luck......

I've been on that (those) list(s) as well. In fact, I've upgraded twice, left the hobby, came back and upgraded once more and still on the list......

I do remember the board, back several presidents ago, voting to pay (what I thought was an exorbitant amount) to have one of the two PAR meters calibrated.

Can we put it to a vote on how best to handle this? Every club member could benefit from knowing their PAR levels, so may I suggest;

Instead of renting it out to one person and waiting for it to be returned or passed forward to the next member, perhaps a member could volunteer (I for one) to rent it for a weekend, and test not just my tank, but any other member's tanks I could coordinate with (within reasonable driving distance of course). Perhaps members could pay the visiting member a little gas money for driving to them.

In any event, having one member handing off the PAR meter to the next member on the list is NOT a good way to circulate the PAR meter.

Just .02 cents from a long standing member...

yes he does

1 week rental? To use it for 10 minutes? 100 active members = 2 years wait for some.
