Hey everyone.

After having the tank for a month, I finally got it set up.

Moving it was a challenge, but we did it with 3 people and a dolly.

Still don’t have much coral to show but it will get there.

Looks good. Just curious, is that really 180g? Looks a little smaller.

is there a woman in that house ? My wife would have a melt down LOL. If its temporary then she probably let it pass for a few hours LOL

I got the thumbs up from the boss lady.

The bathroom is in my office and I never use that shower, so I figured it would be the best spot.

Just need a shower curtain to cover it up.

I was trying to find an affordable ato reservoir but everything was $150 and up.

I found this 20g long that fits the exact spot next to the sump under the tank. Paid $49 for it.

I got a PVC sheet, cut it to size and used it as a lid. I double layered it to make stronger.

Hope this works.

I added a light bar. I don’t know what I was expecting but the difference is hardly noticeable.

As long as the corals like it, I guess it’s good.

View attachment 108907I’ve seen a lot of water mixing stations but never seen one in the shower. I can even control the water temperature lol
Don't run hot water through your filters!

You can slightly increase production rate by using water *slightly* warmer than "cold" water, and in theory it's not actively harmful so long as you stay within the medias' rated temp range (usually 40 - 100ºF). I'd assume you're only trying to get ~80ºF water out, so you're probably not putting the actual RO membrane at risk as long as the temp never reaches or exceeds the membranes' tolerance, but outside increased TDS output from a damaged RO membrane, my real concern would be biofilm formation from stagnant warm water in the sediment and carbon filters turning into a breeding ground for bacteria.

If you're going to heat the water, make 100% certain you run straight cold water long enough to cool the entire system, and then flush your RO membrane both before AND after. And be VERY careful you keep that water temp into the filter under 100ºF (or whatever your specific membrane says, could be as much as 115ºF for some brands) lest you damage it - RO membranes that tolerate higher than that are very specific, and more expensive.

Thank you for the helpful information.

I’ve never ran hot water through it, just cold.

I have a heater to warm up the water when it’s being mixed.

I’ll make sure to never run hot water through it.
