So ive got a deal on this fixture from a local LFS; http://www.marineandreef.com/Lunar_Aqualight_72_inch_Coralife_p/res53409.htm">http://www.marineandreef.com/Lunar_Aqualight_72_inch_Coralife_p/res53409.htm</a>

i had planned on doing a FOWLR tank, but now that ive got the reef bug again im making it an eppic softie tank .

So a question to all you PAR FREAKS out there.. can grow i ALL softies even down on the sand bed (24'' down) with this fixture?

Typically, yes. I don't think you'll have any problem with softies and "some" LPS depending on which.

The only issues you might have would be slower growth and less color on some softies. Other than that you should be fine.

nice nice sounds good. i would love to eventually upgrade to some retro overdriven t5's but right now this project alone is breaking the bank so i figure using pc's for awhile will keep me from buying all the expensive sps's n stuff. but then again.... this tank was going to be fish only at first... haha time will tell

Another choice is non-photosynthetic. Look into some of those corals suah as carnations. Some of the prettiest tanks I have seen. They spent their money on skimmers but not lights

have been looking at softies a lot the last few days and came across them! they are for sure beautiful looking!

C'mon do it! There isn't another tank like that on here. No pressure. Just kidding with ya! (do it!)

ha well ill have a bunch of them for sure! but i like zoos to much to not go crazy with them

Then go with the pc's. They will thrive under them with proper water quality.
Better yet go with cheap t5's and work up to great reflectors if you change your mind to go normal hobby reef

if you got a reef bug , i would go with led because later on who knows what else you want in your tank

if i had the money for led's in my budget i would have thrown my pc's out and it would be an sps dominate tank lol

meh i really do want some non photo corals, but after doing some research they sound like a pain to keep.. maybe one i have good luck with everything els ill try em out

I think softies and a lot of LPSs do very well under PCs. I had a 24G Aquapod running with PCs for a couple of years and I think the growth for softies and LPSs like candy cane and frogspawn was fantastic. I really think some of them grow/extend better to maximize the available light.

You'd do great with some Dendro's, Sun Coral, and Duncans. They're easy to keep and would be fine under your PCs. Also, any of the leathers, zoas and palys, etc. would be fine.
