I just got a text from a buddy of mine that has a toddler that is being potty trained . He has his sump under his stand... Well you can add 1 and 1 together. He has urine in the tank. Tanks is a 90. Should he worry?

Might get a little ammonia spike. I've known folks that do that to get the nitrate cycle started!

It's a tank that's been running for about a year. This is why I don't like family over for the holidays, they bring kids!!

:lol2:, kids are ridiculous.

I imagine if the tank is well established all the bacteria will just eat up the ammonia fairly quickly.

I know of people from stores that pee in the live rock tanks to keep them seeded. And I know people that start cycling a tank by peeing in it.

Its just ammonia no big deal, just keep an eye on the ammonia levels for a spike.

If the kid is being potty trained I would imagine it wasn't a large quantity. Not like me after a night out on the town. :-)

If the kid is still training like mine, less than half made it in the sump anyway

The only problem with this is that you won't want to drink the water for a while.

Put in some Prime. That will bind any ammonia and/or nitrite that results from it.

Fish pee in the tank all the time :)

I pee in my tank from time to time. I get a little ammonia rise but with the amount of vodka in my bodies system it drops nitrates and phosphates down to 0.:lol2:
