I have recently come across a water filter that is designed to be used for your sink water at home - It has a filter inside it that is " Powder Activated Carbon Impregnated Cellulose". My question is do you guys think this could be used on my sump as a replacement for a phosban reactor filled with GAC? I have attached links so you can see exactly what it is and exactly what media is inside the filter. If you do, please tell me why and if you don't please tell me why not. Im leaning towards the side that I could use it in place of a phosban reactor with GAC.

not sure that the carbon impregnated filter will be as effecient as gac, also you can get a little fishies reactor for the same price or less.

I got this for free so I doubt it would be less - was looking at to see if there was something i could modify it and do. Has anyone ever seen what the inside of the aquaripure reactors look like? This filter housing looks like them and i believe the inlet and outlet is set up like the aquaripure as well, was just wondering what the guts of the aquaripure looks like.

Oh ok free is always good a brs media cartridge might fit

looks like a standard 10 inch filter and container, should work fine!

when you save some bucks, trade it for a brs one, or dual so you can see what's up inside......other than that, should be good to go. I would use a brs empty insert made for gfp/carbon.......like 6-7 bucks?

If it is actually 10" then it won't fit. The cartridge in it now is 9 3/4" I guess I could file down the inside of the top of the filter 1/4" so a 10" would fit, i think. If you tie it in with a dual, do you just run them in series? Or would you run a completely separate line for the second?

Close enough I'm not sure what the 10 inches is a measure of id say it will fit.

I just bought some Matrix to help out with my Nitrates (small white rock looking matrix). Could I put this directly in this filter and just let my water flow thru it?

Can you put matrix in a phosban reactor? or do you put matrix in a mesh sock and place it in your sump where water can simply pass thru it?
