I bought a peppermint shrimp yesterday and put him in the tank last night. He was running around for a little bit then I couldnt find him. I assumed hes just hiding. I didnt see him at all today so I took the background off of my tank where I can see into every crevice in the tank. There is no sign of him from the front, top or back of the tank. Hes not in the sump. The only things in the tank are a chocolate chip starfish, 2 turbo snails and a few blue leg hermits. The starfish has not left the general area of the glass hes been on since yesterday.

I didnt have my "lid" on the tank since there isnt anything in there that will escape or jump. Im beginning to think I dreamed buying him and im going crazy...

Are these guys just masters at hiding for long periods of time?

yeah... peps love the nooks & crannys inbetween rocks that only face the rear of the tank...

I, too, have many in my tank that I see only when I turn the actinic lights on at 2:00am (for no reason that to jack with all the nocturnal animals)

Stick your hand in there for a little bit. Mine love to come out and "clean" my fingers when I'm rummaging around in there.

well I found him...He did make it into the sump and got partially sucked in to the skimmer pump. I noticed my skimmer was making a slightly louder noise than normal so I turned it off and he kinda popped out...Needless to say he didnt make it.

I just ordered a new overflow because I hate this one, so hopefully it never happens again...
