Peppermints attacking my new rock/flower anemone

Hey guys I just got a red rock/flower anemone yesterday and as soon as I put it in the tank the shrimps have gone after it. They keep picking at it and won't leave it alone. It hasn't open since.

I've looked it up and all people say is "they're peppermints that's what they do, eat aiptasia and sometimes pick at other nems"

The wired thing is that I already have a bta that just split in three and they dont go near them and i also have a green rock anemone that i've had for about a month or two and they don't go near it either.

What can be the reason to pick at this one in particular?

Any suggestions?

They can and will destroy certain softies, LPS, etc. I had some wipe a volleyball size frogspawn almost overnight. They are no longer with us....:rocketwhore:

They wiped out my galaxia, 35 heads of branching hammer, my aussie ultragold torch, and my rainbow acan colony in about a week. Needless to say, I couldnt get them out so I bought a new tank, swapped everything over, and sumped the 3 peps I had. Theyre evil!

They ate all my acans and taught my flame angel to eat them also. Needless to say I will never own another peppermint and I can no longer keep acan.

I had 3 peppermints that did a great job getting rid of aptasia but I bought a pistol shrimp shortly thereafter. Within a week I stopped seeing peppermints.... pretty sure I know how that ended...

I put 4 in my tank yesterday because I noticed I had 3 aptasia I could see.
Today I noticed I pistol claimed one of them already , but all this talk of them eating lps makes me not care so much , the aptasia can get injected , I'd prefer to keep my acans and blasto's safe.
I really hope they don't cause an issue

I've had these peppermints for a while now and never picked at anything, they did great when I found two aptasias, thats why I got them.
I also have a pistol hi's 3" long and thinks he owns the bottom of the tank, I have seen him kill them before. It's like seeing a 12 grader bit up on a 4th grader or something like that. Lol!

Luckily they have stopped picking at the nem and it started opening later today. I wonder if it brought something with it from the store.

Edit: Btw, since we are talking about corals being killed and picked at, what's your take on pygmy angels?

This is hard because naturally it varies from one fish to another , I really wanted one and had all but sold myself on the idea but started researching and found that , although some are safer and less aggressive , no fish is truly reef safe , Angels are Muppets in general , they dont usually eat healthy coral but will nip at everything checking to see if its food , that's what they do nip.
Apparently they aren't so big on sps but fleshy lps and zoes become targets.
It's 100% a Gamble , Google (reef safe dwarf angel) youl find several posts on multiple forums with ppl asking this very question , and maybe 1 in 8 or less say they have one that doesn't and all of them say keep it well fed helps , but feedings 5-6 times a day like some ppl suggest leads to other issues.
It's not worth me loosing a few hundred $ over a 40$ fish
