I have never noticed these before, it almost seems like they popped up overnight. I am going out of town tmrw so I would like to take care of these before then if need be/possible.

Looks cool. My first guess is a sponge; but not sure which species.
At it's thickest it is about 1mm. If it is a sponge I am fine with that. It does look pretty cool. My first thought was a hydroid but it is way too big to be any I have heard of
