Anyone use phosguard in their reactor with sustained success? What type of flow are you running? I'm assuming that it should be similar to when i ran GFO... help please!

Phosgaurd won't lock up like gfo. I would run as slow as possible. Slower flow means the longer contact time.

Pack it tightly in there - it shouldn't tumble.

We use Phosguard in reactors on many systems.

Thanks jenn,

In order to pack it tightly, I would need to add more than the recommended amount. Can I add filter floss or something to take up the extra space? Will this give me problems down the road because of clogging?

As dylan suggested, my flow is pretty low right now and is barey tumbling. I could slow it down more. Is there such a thing as too little flow?

You can add carbon in there too if you like. That's what we do.

My vote goes to slowing it down.

The filter floss would allow for a faster flow, but would clogg quickly.

Others will dissagree with me, but in this case, I don't think there is a too slow. The longer the water has time to contact the media the more effective it is. You have to find a balance of enough flow to actually make an impact on your total water volume, but not too much where you are flushing water through, and no filtration has time to take place.
