ok guys i need one of these and just want to know if the brs single rector is better than the two little fishes?

Yup.
Get the dual and put carbon in the other.
Get a better pump than the mj, too.

ok think i will go woith the bulk reef supply single reactor for my gfo but does anyone have a suggestion on a pump since the mj 1200 is not the best choice?

Can't comment on the brs reactor but I have the two little fishes reactor and I really like it an Dr Foster and Smith had it for 30.00 when I got mine

I've had the BRS single reactor for awhile, it appears the GFO compacts against the screen which is not removable. I place my GFO in a stocking, rinse and drop in the reactor. I get months of use before phosphates rise and nearly the same flow as when first installed. my biggest complaint with the MJ pumps is they get gunk on em if you dose kalkwasser just upstream of em. Have several that have been going for years..

I have the bigger TLF 550 reactor in my sump and a MJ 600 keeps it tumbling for a month without fussing. Head pressure matters when selecting a pump. MJ pumps are fine for setups where there isn't any head pressure.

Food for thought, alot of people have reported clogging problems with the dual BRS reactors.

I bought a dual reactor, then I split it into two separate reactors. It cost about $10 in parts from lowes. I kept it on the same housing I just turn the reactors and then unattached them. It's cheaper than buying two singles.

I've had mine for a couple of years, the only time that I had issues was when I used a mj 1200....no issues since I switched to the mini eheim.

I am currently using a couple of BRS reactors, and I really like them. The reactors are not that expensive, work well, and are easy to change the media.

One suggestion, if you are planning on running both carbon and gfo, I would suggest buying two single BRS reactors, rather than one dual BRS reactor. I run mine off a manifold, so it is easy to regulate the flow to the individual reactors.

x2 I bought a second one the other week for $30. I already had one and now have both hooked together off the return line so I dont have to have another pump! You cant beat the price

One issue I have noticed with mine (little fishies) is that once it was running a few weeks the filter rose to the top and pushed the media up and compacted it.

I think what's happening is the filter is getting clogged but I think its because I have so little media in the system.
