Hello everyone! It has been quite some time since ARC has held a photo contest, so I reached out to @Cook to see if I could start hosting club sponsored ones. For the first one of the year, let’s do something to highlight the unsung heroes of our reef tanks: the Clean Up Crew! Our tanks wouldn’t look nearly as pretty without these important members doing their jobs.

RULES:
Only one photo submission per member allowed. If posting multiple pictures, please designate which one you want entered in as your official entry. Otherwise, I’ll make the decision for you. Entries will be allowed up until May 20th 12pm. ONLY SUPPORTING MEMBERS are eligible to enter into this contest. Your submission will not be accepted if you are not. Perfect reason to join as a supporting member if you aren’t already!

I’ll narrow it down to a top 5-10, depending on how many participants we get, and then put up a poll to vote for your favorites. The poll will be up for 1 week, after which the photo with the most votes will be the winner. In the event of a tie, we can do 2 $50 gift cards.

Prizes:
1st place - $75 gift card (LFS TBD)
Runner Up - $25 gift card (LFS TBD)

Please keep this to inverts. There are plenty of fish that have important roles as well, and we can do those as another contest later on. Good luck everyone and I look forward to seeing everyone’s submissions!

My official entry: one of the best photos I've ever taken, IMO. S.I.P., Percival the Porcelain Crab. Do filter feeders count as CUC?

Second best reef photo - I don't think these guys really count a CUC, or I'd maybe have to pick this one instead:

(Bless the Maker and his water. Bless the coming and going of Him. May his passage cleanse the reef. May he keep the reef for His people.)

If nobody thinks either of these two really count, I'll try for a better pic of something else.

Bump! Let’s get more entries into this contest! Easy way to win a gift card to go towards that coral or fish you’ve been thinking about 😉

What kind of cameras are yall using?? I know my 5 year old phone cannot compete with with these high end cameras but I thought this one was cool. Turbo snail with a baby feather duster and something hosting the turbo snail. I found one pic of something similar online but could never identify what it was. It has 2 antenna with black rings.

I'm shooting on a Galaxy S25 Note+ or w/e it is, with a set of Orphek clip-on lenses.

Haven't the foggiest... but I'm envious (I think - as long as its friend and not foe), what a cool little thing!

My pest tank urchin has stolen and wears as decoration a significant amount of my clove polyp population (more clove than urchin at this point) 😂:
