From what I've heard, they grow rediculously slow. Go figure!!

The appleberry monti is a slow grower in my tank. Mine was brown for about 6 months while I switched lighting about three times.

Where do you have it? Where are you putting the FF?

The appleberry is about 8 inches from the bottom of the tank in full light. The FF is on the sand bed right now until I decide what to do with it. My frag tank is now a chalice/acan/monti tank, so it may end up in there. The frag once fell behind the reef for a week or two, then stayed so brown for so long that I almost pitched it.

I have another Monti that looks just like the FF monti. I think I may place them touching each other and see if they fuse growth. Only real way to tell.

I think you can have yours anywhere in the bottom 1/2 of the tank and be fine. Nice thing about most montis is they are easy and not too fussy about placement if you don't blast them with light. Here's mine:

Thanks Charlie. I actually have all my ORA frags on the reef now, and that black algae is starting to go away and get replaced by coralline.

Yeah, Dave has the stuff. I still wish I could've delivered your 210 tank (slo I could see your setups), but Bobby and Alex said nooooo! I missed out.
