Places to dive

I will be finishing up my dive certification soon and was hoping to get in a few dive before summer is over. Is there a good website to learn about dives in or around GA. Or could some one tell me about some places. I am doing my check out dive in a quarry in white GA, so even some thing like that would be fine.

the quarry in white is the only inland site in georgia. there are a couple of quarries in Alabama. All the good diving is in the ocean. I need a new dive buddy as my wife is preggers. If you are planning a trip, let me know.

Alabama Blue Water is just south of Birmingham. They have a pretty nice setup and you can see down to 85 feet. They have decks built a different depths, an old firetruck, sailboat, etc on the bottom for you to explore. All of the stuff has been cleaned so you should not get in any danger with sharp metal or such.

Yeah-the only close pleaces are crappy quarries. The one in White is ok, there is also one in Athens, TN and Pelham, AL. For quarries, they are ok dives-cold as crap and vis. prety much sucks. Closest ocean dives are Panama City Beach-vis. is ok and usually warm temps. in warmer months. Compared to quarries, PCB is GREAT! But compared to say the Fl. Keys-PCB doesn't compare (unless you wanna spear fish). Probably Key Largo or FL keys are the best diving in US-if you want supreme diving, check out Caribbean, Cozumel, or the divers heaven of Bonaire. I've never made it to Bonaire, but everyone says it is awesome.

My girlfriend just finished up her open water dives in Fl this weekend. My father and I will be doing our stuff in the next couple of weeks then maybe a trip down to crystal river or some other springs in FL.

I've done over 100 dives in lake lanier. Sometimes it is 2' viz and other times it can be 40' viz. In the winter under the thermocline (40F) you can get great viz. Of course its so cold that you won't see anything but mud, fishing line, trees, and more mud.

well I was at the white quarry today and it was pretty good, vis was not too bad but not really any thing to see a few brim here and there. The temp was good down to about 30 feet. So my next question is any one have a BCD and or regulator that are welling to part with or advice on some good middle of the road stuff to buy.

The local dive shops are great for advice. I bought most of my stuff from

if you don't mind using used stuff, Craig's list is a great place--there are lot of people who get in/getout or don't have time, etc....and you can save big time if you know your stuff.

Consider Belize and stay at Ambergis Kay or Kay Caulker. Southern part of the country is third world or at least it was five years ago.
