I am about 85% sure I have egg laying clowns( I see something that looks like eggs. But never got to them before my other fish) My question is , am I abled to removed the eggs and bring them to someone to raise for me without removing the parents.

If yes. What's the best method for removing the eggs without damaging them or blowing them everywhere.

Final question, anyone willing to help me raise them >.<

Edit: No the parents are not for sale and no I will not move the parents

Unless the eggs are on a rock that is easily removable you would need to let them hatch normally, collect the larva and move them to a breeding set up. If you would like to try it, I would be happy to help get you going. It's not difficult but it takes a lot of dedicated effort to raise them.

I've only caught them after the hatch, I've not tried to remove the eggs and hatch them in a separate tank.

Thanh and Bud

I cant take this batch, but give me a few months and I would definitely like to try my hand at it. I have always wanted to try breeding clowns.

They eggs won't hatch , well it won't get a chance to. They laid their eggs on a mo tip of all places, between the monti shelves so they have no host protection. The last time I tried to remove eggs using a turkey , I had little success

Funny thing I think the female is( the larger one ). They are very similar in size so it's hard to tell, but th bigger one is the one staying in the area why the smaller one swims.

The larger would definitely be the female but once she lays the eggs and the male fertilizes them, then she pretty much patrols to protect while the male stays almost on top of them while fanning them.

I could come and get them, but you need to document exactly when they lay. Then 7 days later I could show up and remove them. They'll be bright orange the first day. Most times it takes a few tries to get viable eggs. So no need to rush. Just keep feeding and they'll spawn again in 2 weeks.

The eggs never make it. I see them once every blue moon and are gone next day. U must remember this is in a reef tank with other fish and inverts.

Lots of us have had clown eggs in our reef tanks with all kinds of fish and inverts and they still go the eight days or so and then hatch. The clowns won't let anything go near them. There has to be something else going on in your tank that you/we haven't figured out yet. Can you get a picture of the eggs if they are still there?

No eggs are no longer there. And a picture is really hard. If u saw the spot they host u would know why . Paul was over last night and I have sissy clowns, they were being evicted by a chromis

chances are they were not viable. Give em time. Even wimpy percs will eventually figure it out.

Maybe true. Just feels kinda wrong sitting on these eggs and not raising them

we can't harvest the eggs on day one. You must wait at least 7 days for them to develop.

your picassos are starting to display. I'd guess they'll spawn next month
