I plan to try to plumb my UV off of my overflow. I would assume that air bubbles in the UV could cause the shield to crack, right. I plan to tee off of the overflow after the UV. The remaining overflow will flow freely to the sump. I know I'm not being clear, but has anyone fed a UV via an overflow?

That is how I have mine setup... I put a gate valve on the line going into the UV, which allows me to control the flow of the water going into the sterilizer. After the UV, the water dumps right back into the sump.

So did you tee off before the UV? Any chance you can snap a pic?

I would want it turn off if the return pump is turned off or plumb it in a way that water is left in the uv so that it doesn't get too hot and then the cool water hit it suddenly that might crack the sleeve. Turn off with the return is the best route. The more air bubbles the less efficient as well.
