Plumbing Preferences

ok... I've found two different references...

One that is made by Watts called Spa Flex Hose - Watts is the brand that HD uses for its john guest fittings (darn, there's another item we can discuss..lol)
The other is TigerFlex Spa Hose...

I think that there are different manufacturers for the product and that (like Kleenex) the name that was intended to be Proprietary has become widely used to refer to that type of hose..

but again, I've only done a little research... the important thing is that we all know what product we're talking about now.. (pretty much)

More importantly (IMO) is what it is made of...I bet it is all PVC.

yes sir... sorry, thought that I implied that, but I guess I didn't...

it's all PVC and using "standard" strength glue you can connect it to any/all standard pvc fittings of the same pipe size..

I'm not sure if it makes a difference or not, but there is a special glue made for flex PVC. It sets up differently than the standard stuff and seems to be a little more flexible after it's cured. I've always used it, just to be on the safe side. Just search for "Flexible PVC cement". Lowes/Home Depot sometimes has it.

I use a combination of flexible and hard pvc. It really is easy to work with and I have never had a glued joint leak, which I can't really say for threaded or barbed joints.

I tried to find the flexible glue locally that mojo shows when I did mine and couldn't find it so I called Oatey and talked to a rep about where to get it or what would be an alternative. They said the blue can at HD, Rain-R-Shine would work just as well. I read all the spec sheets on the various glues and they almost all have the same chemicals just in different percentages. Even the Purple Primer is the same but leaves out at least one of the ingredients.

The rep told me the primer wasn't necessary on the flexible stuff if I used the Rain-R-Shine but I used it on the hard pieces just not on the flexible piece.
