Plumbing question

With my pending upgrade, I'm looking at removing my additional pumps for the media reactor containing GFO/Carbon, and possibly plumbing an external skimmer.

Ideally I'd like to do all of this from my main return pump on a bank of outlets/spigots with valves on them. My question/issue/concern is that the way the water flows through the sump, I would basically be "looping" my sump water for the reactor and skimmer.

As in... Water will flow as follows:
OVERFLOW -- SUMP -- RETURN PUMP -- DISPLAY/SKIMMER/REACTOR -- SUMP.

The skimmer & reactor dump back into the sump, so I'm running a continual loop of the water I've skimmed & run through my reactor. Is this a concern? If so, how do I work around it?

Right now it's a non-issue because I have additional pumps for my skimmer & reactor which pull water before it goes to the return pump.

Your adding tank water at a faster rate than recirculated water so what seems to be a loop is but isn't completly recirculated. Just put your skimmer and reactor outlet back to the sock so it gets mixed with the tank water before reskimming.

That makes sense John. Right now my reactor output is directly into my return pump chamber, but I could easily reroute that.

The sock will also stop the splashing which will be a plus.

Hows the buffing going?

I don't run filter socks. Never have. Considering it with the new build but I'm not fully convinced yet.

Need one final polish on the inside and it will be done. Then the outside which will be easier to get to, but has some more difficult scratches in it.

My main holdback at the moment is that I started going back to the gym this week after ~6 month break and my upper body is pretty much mush at the moment. Sat I have a shooting class (which should be interesting with jelly arms) and hoping to get some time grinding on Sunday.
