How does the draining rate differ in these situations: 1. Two separate drains draining to the sump through separate pipes. 2. Two separate drains being plumbed together so that they reach the sump through only one pipe


If that makes sense!
 
As long as the single pipe is large enough to handle the flow it will be fine. Two 3/4 into a 1-1/4 should do fine. May even get away with a 1".

It will work but I like having three drain lines so if one gets clogged I still have two other that will handle the flow. They call it an emergency drain line for a reason!
