Pods vs filter socks

I was changing out my filter socks tonight and when I got ready to rinse them off I noticed something moving in them. Upon further inspection there were some pods in there.

Are the filter socks preventing the pods from moving freely through the tank/sump? Assuming the answer is yes, is that a bad thing or are there enough of them that it does not matter?

My filter socks are removing enough 'stuff' that I would hate to remove them from the system, but I know pods are good for the health of things also.

There are most likely plenty of pods in the system that the few getting caught in the sock are minuscule.....probably 95% of them are still in the DT...no worries there.....

I just pour the contents of the filter sock into my fuge when changing. UV is way more dangerous to pods than a filter sock imho

Wow, I was following because I have the same thing, there are always pods in my filter sock and with having a mandarin I'm always worried that I am taking her food source.

I have two drains from my display tank. One I run a sock on the other I do not. I just shake the sock when I change and put the pods back into the fuge. Where they end up is anyone's guess.

I have a three sock drainage chamber on my sump, when I change out the socks (about every 7-12 days), I just remove the dirty socks and go outside and turn them inside out.. as I find living pods, I simply put them in a cup of salt water from the tank and pour them back in after I've finished with all the socks..

I lose some, but it's no biggie...

for what it's worth, if you run a UV sterilizer on your return, you'd probably kill them anyway (especially if it's on 24/7)..
