I want to build a small pond and I am looking for design ideas. Anybody got some pics to post?

Talk to Chris. I think he has one or two ponds at his house and I know he's built a bunch of 'em.

Let me know if I can help. Just some advise. Build it twice as big as you think you want. You'll just want a bigger one later. After you set a few tons of rocks you won't want to move them to redo it . If your gonna use liner use the EPDM not poly. You can also check out american ponders to see some pretty amazing ponds.

Oh yeah, here is mine

Jumping in here, because I plan to do one myself... where is a good source for information on sizing pumps to gallon capacity and/or size of waterfalls, etc? Frankly, if it will break the wallet I won't do it. I'd like to get an idea of cost before I "do" anything. John, I may swing by and talk to you about it on Monday.

Once we decide if we will actually install a pond, how do we determine all of the equipment we will need for it so we can plan it and not have to go back for this and that? I guess I am asking if there is a checklist somewhere of the things we will need for a basic pond install?

That's why we go see John. :)

I used to build ponds for my old company back home and I still have all my estimating calculators. If you let me know what dimensions you're thinking I can give tell you how much liner, rock, pump size, man-hours to build, etc...

Concrete is an option, but not ideal. There can be some leaching of minerals that affects the water chemistry, also carpeting is not the best choice, go with a geo-textile underlayment, it's best and not too expensive.

I've been missing building ponds and would be willing to help with design and planning, maybe even a little construction, building waterfalls is really an art.
