First off thank you Ryan at Reefworks as always for great corals and service!

This was a piece I received yesterday from him that was stressed out upon delivery to him a few weeks ago. Ryan has let it heal up and has sold it to me as a potential color up beauty.

It has actually a nice blue hue to right now, so I will be updating this tread regularly with color advancements and hopefully in the end a really beautiful piece of coral.

Any tips on how to help sps recover color would be very much appreciated. I know this process can take some time to recover color, but that will be the fun part about this thread.

Color as of 2/7/2013 very pale blue, polyp extension very minimal.

Did you set it down on top of some Xenia?? :)

You may have a bit of a challenge ahead of you, not impossible, just tricky. Placement, lighting, flow, and chemistry all play a big role in recovery.

Maybe you can fill us in on some of the variables in your system.

LOL yes that is xenia underneath..that stuff is so annoying.

Tank stats:

*150 Gal Marineland cornerflo,
*55 gal sump
*20 gal plumbed in frag tank
* 1 koralia 1050 1 750 and two sicce 2 on a red sea wavemaker. (I have an apex on the way so looking to go to some tunze pumps)
*Lighting 2 250w hqi lumatek ballast in lumenmax elite reflectors with pheonix 14k bulbs coupled along with 2 taotronic 120w leds (black box)
*automated dosing off a marine color 3 pump dosing system, currently dose 100ml of cal and 80ml of alk. Mag as needed.

I will be doing some testing tonight to get current water chemistry stats. its been a few weeks since ive tested.

Well i've placed it about mid tank seems to be a good start with decent flow and not getting blasted by the halides. I figured id start it there and adjust as needed.

Good luck brother. I thougt about getting that coral as well. Cant wait to see what it looks like in a few weeks/months.

Thanks man, I have high hopes for it and thoughts of high frag prices lol JK......well maybe :p
