After following this all day, I couldn't take it anymore so I caved in and I just ordered the battery backup for my 2 vortech MP10's. Ecotech claims that the battery can run the mp10 for over 30 hours at a low setting (should be enough to keep my corals happy). So If I can 2 MP10's I should get at least 12 hours out of the battery which I think is pretty good since I never really use power for more then 2 or 3 hours max. Good luck everyone that has lost power today. Hope everything works out well.

1- power inverter 1- 12 volt battery and a small battery charger to maintain battery works great for me

What I have is a power converter that I can hook up to my truck. Basically your vehicle is a generator. I dont see the need to buy a seperate generator If I have two that travel.
Def tried this the other day and it was no where near that....
I had another crazy incident where a truck ripped the power lines out of my house and needless to say i lost power while i was gone. Once I got home from traveling, i noticed the mp40 was still on after about an est 6 hrs but it was def no where near full power. Now im not sure if that depends on speed settings or how else you can charge up the battery but i honestly wasnt that impressed with it. Set up consisted of me just plugging it into the back up and then connected it to one of the mp40's ( not sure what else you need to do for it run 36 hrs)

Power is still out at my house. I did stop by Walmart last night and pic up a couple of the battery powered air pumps. Not bad for $7. My APC ran out of power sometime during the night, but the battery powered ones are still cranking. I did take a bowl and 'circulate' the water some as well just to make sure that it is getting a least a little movement. Temp is also low at this point, down to ~70. Fish were definitely still moving around, but tough to tell what the quality of the water might be.
I did see the GA Power truck rolling down my street this morning. Hopefully that means a power restore is coming soon.

Power is finally back on. Have not been home yet to check things out.
BTW, as Murphy's law would have it my wife had just been to the grocery store. Fridge and Freezer contents all had to be thrown away. Maybe a 'whole house' generator would not be a bad idea.
