powerhead size question

my girlfriend is gonna get me a couple powerheads for Christmas. Im curious on the size I should get. Ive got a 60 gallon (48x13x24) with about 45-55lbs of live rock. I like the Koralia Evos. I was looking at the 1400 and the 1050. Should I get 2 1400s...2 1050s...or one of each. I plan on putting one on each end.

What size would yall recommend?

Depends on what you are going to keep... if SPS, I think 1400s would be ok. Heck, the guy I bought my MP40Ws from had two in a 65g SPS tank.

for now im going fish only, this is my first salt tank so im gonna take it one step at a time before i get in over my head. I wanna do a lot of research on corals and what each one requires before i take that step.

i bought 2 1050 evo for my 40 breeder = way to much flow for fish only
but i plan on having sps in there so i guess its good
i would go with 2 1050's in your tank with a controller to slow them down if needed JMO

The Koralia Evolutions are not able to be "slowed down", only turned on and off. To vary speed, you either need Vortechs, Tunzes or the "other" controllable Koralias... the ones that run on DC (and require a controller box in addition to the powerheads).

so would 2 1050s be sufficient? Ive also got a 425 if there is a big dead spot that I can hit with that.

and they arent that expensive

Yes, they can be controlled with a wavemaker box (including that one), but they'll be "on-off-on" instead of ramping up and down in speed.

I think that would be just fine, personally. With three, you can run one daytime only and make the tank calmer at night, without making the flow too low.

that sounds like a good idea, might try that down the road a little when i get some more cash, unless i can talk the old lady into getting me 3 for christmas, haha
