ok guys,
long story short i set up a 12 gallon nano basically did a move not cycle just moved the tank from one place to another.

I have mushrooms, xenia, pagoda cup, plate coral, frogspawn, torch, sun coral etc. etc. etc...

hermits, cleaner shrimp, snails

All of the above are perfect!!!

the first two fish i put in the tank were 2 clowns, since then i lost a few diff. fish including royal gamma, firefish, clown goby, and both clowns!!

both clowns ended up having brokynella or clownfish disease, as of right now all corals are perfect and ZERO fish are in the tank.... how long do I need to wait to put fish in the tank? What do I need to do to make sure it is safe to put fish in the tank so that they do not contract the disease?!

Thanks,
Tyler

Just lost my clowns too :( wonder why so many folks are loosing clowns lately? Mine were badly sick within hours of getting them home so I know it wasnt anything in my tank. Just like yours everything was zero & the other few fish I have were fine.

you bought sick fish or.........
your stressed them out in move............
your tank parems stressed them out..........
or
your tank inhabitants stressed them out.

I would vote for number 1, but...............

It upset me so bad loosing them & the kids too. As of right now I have a few chromis & that's it. I'm not buying anymore fish for awhile at least 6 weeks or more as I dont want to loose anybody else. Whatever they had was fast & didnt respond to any treatment. I tested everything with the water & couldnt find anything off.

I had the same issue with the first pair of clowns I ever bought. I'm convinced they were sick or cyanide caught. They didn't eat from day one and neither of them made it. I gave the store a second chance later, with a different species, and the same thing happened. All parameters tested fine, verified by others' kits just to double check mine. No fighting, etc because they were the first fish in the system. I switched stores and have had stellar luck with every fish since. I later learned in talking to a few other members that several people had had the same problem from the same store.

Usually "noobs" (like me at the time) look outside for the source of their problems, and often learn that it was something on their end that was the cause. I luckily (?) experienced the opposite... I blamed myself up until I (and a couple of mentor-types) ruled out theories one by one until we were left with no other conclusion than they were sick when I got them.

What I learned? Buy from a store with healthy livestock, and don't buy fish right after they arrive... let the store show they will survive for a couple of weeks before plunking down hard-earned cash.
No point in naming the source... they are out of business and I didn't cry too much over it. :)

Smart man. It's a shame more people don't do this. The only fish I didn't QT were the first pair in the tank, since there were no other fish to infect and they came from the same store system. In retrospect, I should have QT'd them too.

its really worth the wait to add to a qt tank!!!!!!!!!!!!!you might get away with not using one and adding to the main tank for 2 weeks or a year but when you get that one bad fish.............its HELL TO PAY and can kill every fish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am glad more people are posting the bad instead of only the good and getting the message out to quarantine EVERYTHING. Hope it all works out for you man

yeah I am gonna let it sit for about 6 weeks and then I will go at it again,

I have been in this hobby for years with bigger tanks and have never ever had a problem anywhere near this.....
