Problem with Salifert test kits :sad:

for some reason I am getting weir reading from Salifert test kits

I did 10% water change today and went ahead and test my water with the old water first and also test it again 1 hour later after the water change.

This is what I am getting and I am not happy with what I saw.

Old water before 10% water change.


KH= 7.4
Akl = 2.63
Cal = 390
PH = 8.0
N03 = 100

an hour later with 10% water change

KH=7.7
Akl =2.74
CAL 390
PH = 8.0
NO3 = 100

Now before you saying anything please read on.

I was not sure if I did the KH and ALK test right so I test it again 2 more time and I am getting different readding after each test

Second test on KH and ALK

KH = 7.0
AKL =2.54

3th test on KH and AKL

KH = 7.4
AKL = 2.63

There are no way my No3 are at 100 in my reef tank. I must have done something wrong here when I ust the NO3 test kits, so I went and test my NO3 with RED SEA NO3 test kits and it READ 2.5


Anyhone else have this same problem?

I can't say I have had the NO3 test problem. Every time I use it, it reads 0... The variation in you Alk measurements I would think are normal at +- 10%...
