Looking to upgrade protein skimmers on my 150 gallon system. I have been reading reviews on the net trying to formulate the absolute best option as this is the last "planned" buy for a while. My tank currently is what I would consider medium bioload, but I would like to skim as if it were heavy. I run a sump and desire to have the skimmer in the sump (footprint is not a problem). Currently running a MRC2 with a Mag12 and want to explore my options, based on performance, electrical savings, noise and ease of cleaning. My current front runners are SWC, ATB and Magus but I would like to hear some local opinions and perhaps see yours in action to find the best of the best. If you have one of these thats listed or others I should consider tell my why I should buy a skimmer like yours!

Why don't you just change pumps? Using the correct pump will do wonders for the MR-2 and cost much less than a new skimmer.

Because if he does that he can't sell his old one to me. Thats why!!! :-)

Yeah what he said :). Upgrading the pump may make it a better skimmer but it will not make it easier to clean

Glad you see it my way fener. LOL First, I have to build my sump though.
