How long can I leave a display up and running ?

I've got a 90 gal display with plenty of water movement (surface agitation also).

work just sucks right now and I can't make the repairs to the pump/skimmer until probably tomorrow evening.. (will be a total of 30 hours or so by then)

thanks for the input..

I've got a pretty heavy bioload (12 fish, most pretty small - but 3 tangs)

no SPS to speak of, primarily softies and LPS..

IMO, you should be fine. When was the last water change?
If you look at the older style reef tanks (think Martin Moe's books), they didn't use sumps or skimmers...
I feel for ya...I'm still at work. Going on 11 hours now...

haha... (I've been here since 7:00am)

I thought I would be fine... (last WC was sunday.. 15%)

Yeah you should be fine as long as you maintain the water movement through your display. Had a similar issue several years ago and had to take the sump off line for 5 days. Everything was fine.

SWEET!!

it won't take me that long...

I've got a 30 in the kitchen that doesn't have a sump.. I figured it was pretty much the same thing...

Though... (and I'm sure you've thought of this) keep in mind that you either need to create some sort of water movement in the sump... or replace it all in a water change before starting the sump back up. you could probably drop in a aerator and small heater and be good to go.

I drained the sump (down to about 1" of standing water) and kept it recirculating in a Brute container.

I didn't do anything to the water sitting in the sump, but everything appears to be fine now... (been up and running for over a week)
