Ok, I have broken down and purchased a qt tank. I just experienced an ich outbreak that has killed 75% of my fish population.

The tank will be both plumbed into the system and independent for meds. I have a pump for 2 25watt uv's.

The filtration will be a hang on filter with bio will. It's a 40 breeder.

What's your qt set up?

Nice QT setup. I just use a 20 gallon with hang on bio wheel. I'd be a little worried about cross contamination if you ever get something nasty like brook or velvet.

Nice setup, and dang nice fish room!!!

I'm running a 55g with two HOB filters filled with seachem matrix...

They way it would work is I would line coming from the system to the qt tank. I have a drain from the qt tank to the sink. Everyday I would drain 5-10 gallons from the qt tank and fill back with system water. If the fish falls ill continue water changes. Once fish are healthy for 30 days with no signs of poor health, then slowly bleed the qt tank in the system.

As long as the DT is healthy, this is a perfect plan. If the DT has any issues like ich or anything, then you may want to reconsider using DT water to fill your QT...

Best of luck...
