If you are desperate and need a fast cycle in your QT, I have a bunch of matrix in my sump. I could trade you some of my "cycled" matrix for some of your "virgin matrix."

Don't go too small on your QT, or you'll be battling water quality and stability issues.

Get a gallon of matrix and keep it in your sump. Pull out a cup or two as needed.
