I am in bad need of a boost in flow in my 210, I have an mp40w es already and planned to add another. Problem is, its tough to justify the spend when the one I have isnt on full power for any length of time because it knocks corals over. I was thinking maybe go with 2 of the MP 10w es instead. Then I could use the full power of both and cover more ground for just a little more dough. Sounds good in my head but is it a good idea?

The MP10s won't go on any glass thicker than 3/8".

Personally, Gary, I'd mount your corals to the rock with super glue or epoxy, then crank it up. Even if you were able to use Mp10s, you'd eventually replace them with 40s anyways. No need to double buy. Glue the sticks and let the Vortech rip!:D

lol...I knew you would say that. They are glued in but it blows my softies around and beats them up pretty good when its cranked up.

Than you need a second reef tank for your softies so you can make the 210 SPS only!:D

I have a 72 gallon with a mp40es and mp10es on opposite walls at full blast on reefcrest and I still get decent extension from torch/hammer/frogspawn/duncans.

I'm religious about using epoxy and superglue for any coral attached to any rock. Falling corals is a serious pet peeve. I don't have many corals fall at all.

Also, I try and find spots where the softies are shielded from flow, at least to a small extent. I don't stick them so far out that they get pummeled.

Hope this helps, works for me.

2 will give it a back and forth motion that would not have a need to have both crunk up to full force. I think you would have plenty with the 2 40's.

I just put 2 mp40's on my 75 Lol. Bought them with plans for a larger tank later

Is there any water left in the tank?:thumbs:

in constant mode I had to dial them back too but on ecosmart modes you can run them sync or antisync at full blast. The apex module to control them helped a bunch.

get another mp40.

on a 210 you NEED more than 1 MP40. I have 3 MP40s on my 120!

It may be dialed back, but its all about moving the column of water, and not how FAST it moves u know.

THere are other cheaper routes, like the Ks.

I will still have dead spots with another mp40, thats my problem - its hard to spend $950 on poweheads and still have dead spots

I have 2 K 4's in the tank as well and its not cutting it either. I would add more but they are unsightly and take up too much space imo

Gary, just for reference, im still running two of the 1450's along with my mp40's dialed half way down and i dont have any deadspots at the moment. I agree the k4's make it ugly but i cant justify spending anymore on ph's....

Gary, I'm interested to know how two of them do whenever you get another one... I'm hoping my two will do the 210 right so I don't have to use my 2 Evo 1400s in there too (for the same reasons you stated). I'm running both in my 90g right now (turned almost all the way down), and the only thing that didn't like the flow is my giant toadstool. I moved it into the back corner to give it some relief.
