i just picked up a 2x150w sunpod fixture today! i was thinking that mh's were a LOT more bright than t5 or no fixtures....but this new fixture seems like it's not even close to being as bright as my wavepoint 4xt5ho.

it has 6month old radium 20k bulbs (unless they are older than that), if that matters.

is it simply not going to be as bright as a 4xt5ho or do i need new bulbs??

do mh bulbs burn less bright when they are ready to be replaced??

I can only say I just replaced my 150 de with a phoenix 14k WOW what a difference...I know now the other bulb was just beat

I was amazed at the difference

another question.

also, i've never in my life seen someone turn their halides on and off.

mine starts yellow and then eventually turns blue and then whiteish blue over a 20 second period

All my MH set-ups have done that, it's like it goes through a cycle as the bulb heats up......

My new 14k Phoenix bulb is alil too blue for my tastes, but I'll live with it.....

yeah MH lamps have to warm up..

fluorescent lamps do to, only the change isn't as noticeable..

I REALLY like the phoenix 14k I got yesterday Dakota....Has some blue to it but not a lot...couldnt ask for better color and the few corals and the BTA seem to really like it....Your BTA got really mad at me yesterday...I moved a rock and he got, well, squished somewhat lol I think he's ok...you gotta get him soon :)

I've used the pheonix 14k just strait up without actinic before and liked it.

its been a while, but i think the pheonix 14ks are pretty blue...
