According to the directions for total alkalinity, the water sample should have added to it one drop of total alk indicator, and then perform titration until the sample turns from blue to yellow.

When I add the indicator to my sample, it stays clear, i.e. it never turns blue. For the purposes of this question, I performed the titration anyway and the sample never changes from clear.

What am I missing? Any help would be appreciated.

I'm so sorry to hear about your Total Alkalinity Indicator. It should definitely turn blue after the first drop of the indicator. If you could please respond with the 5 digit lot # on the bottle, we will be able to see when that reagent was made and if there has been any other complaints with that particular lot. Also, if you will PM us with your shipping information, we would be more than happy to send you a replacement reagent. Again, we are sorry for the inconvenience and we appreciate your patience. Have a great day!

Thank you. The lot number is 0171JR5L.
PM incoming with shipping info, and thank you.

You are welcome and thank you for getting back to us with that lot #. We received your PM and will be shipping the reagent shortly. Have a great day!

Recieved the new reagent and it works correctly. Thanks for the excellent service.

Great to hear! Thank you for letting us know and for your patience with this matter. Have a great day!
