I just put 2 BRS dosing pumps online yesterday. On my ALK output line I can see somewhat of a buildup in the line. It doesn't prevent pumping but I'm worried it could solidify over time. The pump runs for 6min every 2 hours. I use BRS 2 part.

Anyone have experience with this?

Do you have the lines in the water or hanging above? Also do the two lines touch at the end or are they separated?

The lines are separated. The ALK line sits above the water line of the sump however u just got me thinking. I think that when I go into feeding mode and my return shuts off, that the water line would go above the drip point of the ALK line.

Yep that would do it. You just need to raise them above the water line when the pump is shut off.

6 minutes every 2 hours "seems" extreme to me.......

mine run about 30 seconds (never timed it though) 6 times a day in a heavy, heavy sps stocked & fast growing tank, albeit only 100 gallons total water...............

check your Alk!

Both ALK and CAL were a bit low when i tested them a few days ago at 8kh and 350. I use BRS products and mix 24 teaspoons into 900ml of rodi. With that mixture I dosed 50ml/ day. I have a 120gal tank that is mild SPS - just several large colonies. To increase my params im noe dosing 75ml/day. I agree that i feel like im using a lot of product.

Edit: Just to clarify, I have been dosing 50ml of alk and cal for about a year. Also I test with elos and I use salinity with 10% water change about 3times month

dosing should be done to maintain the desired parems, that your tank is consuming......if you are generally adding in order to raise parems, then what you are starting out with in not adequate. Larger water changes more frequently might be the trick...

What is your salt and water change schedule?

I try to do 30%-40% weekly water changes, albeit in the 2 months it's been bi-weekly.....
